Empire Aircraft Detailing
De-ice boot cleaning and rejuvenation using the PBS Prep and Seal system. Removes contamination, restores flexibility, and extends boot service life for turboprop aircraft across the San Francisco Bay Area. Recommended as part of routine exterior maintenance. On-site at San Jose International (KSJC), Reid-Hillview (KRHV), Buchanan Field (KCCR), and every airport we serve.

Our Process
Pneumatic de-ice boots are made of rubber that hardens, cracks, and degrades when exposed to UV, ozone, and contamination. Neglected boots lose flexibility and fail prematurely, creating an expensive replacement and a dispatch concern. Dedicated cleaning and conditioning extends their service life and keeps them functioning as designed.
We use the PBS Prep and Seal system, purpose-built for de-ice boots. The Prep stage removes accumulated contamination, oxidation, and old dressings, and the Seal stage restores flexibility while laying down a protective barrier against UV and ozone. The result is supple, clean, well-protected boots.
Boot care should be part of every turboprop exterior maintenance cycle, not an afterthought. Because boots degrade continuously from environmental exposure, we build boot refurbishment intervals into recurring maintenance and fleet plans so protection is maintained rather than restored after damage appears.
De-ice boots are common on turboprops such as the King Air, Pilatus PC-12, TBM, and Meridian, as well as many piston twins. We tailor the treatment to your boot material and condition, coordinating the service alongside a full exterior detail for efficiency.

We recommend building boot care into your recurring exterior maintenance cycle rather than waiting for cracking or hardening to appear. Regular treatment extends boot life significantly.

The San Francisco Bay Area UV exposure and ozone levels degrade rubber de-ice boots continuously, even when aircraft are hangared. King Airs, PC-12s, and TBMs based at airports like KSJC, KCCR, and KLVK benefit from regular PBS Prep and Seal treatment to keep boots supple and functional. Empire Aircraft Detailing coordinates boot refurbishment alongside your regular exterior detail, so the boots get professional care without adding separate downtime to your schedule.
In Depth
De-ice boots are a safety-critical system, and while their function is maintained by qualified technicians, their appearance and surface condition are firmly in the detailer's domain. Boots that are faded, chalky or streaked make an otherwise sharp turboprop look tired, and the right conditioning products keep the rubber supple and protected. Our de-ice boot service cleans the surface, treats and re-blackens faded rubber, and applies conditioners formulated for boot material — never harsh chemicals that could degrade it. The result is a deep, uniform black that dramatically improves the aircraft's presentation and helps the boot surface resist the cracking that neglect and UV exposure accelerate.
For aircraft based in or flying regularly into cold and high-altitude environments, boot condition matters year-round, and pre-winter preparation is especially worthwhile. We time boot conditioning alongside a full exterior detail so the aircraft is ready for the season — protected finish, conditioned boots and a presentation that holds up through demanding conditions. Combined with our correction and coating services, this care keeps turboprops looking their best even when they work hard in weather that punishes lesser-maintained aircraft. It is detailing that respects both how the aircraft looks and the environment it operates in.
